A message from our Headteacher

At Bishop Fox’s School our ethos of high standards and high expectations underpins everything that we do. We work hard to create a caring and challenging learning environment in which each individual can strive, enjoy and achieve. As the Headteacher I hold a strong belief in the power of education to change children’s lives and the right of every child to receive an excellent education.

We are dedicated to building opportunities for our students to achieve the highest academic standards, ensuring that they are known as individuals and that their unique personality, talents and interests are nurtured and developed to the full.

I was delighted with the school’s most recent Ofsted report (March 2023), which judged the school to be good. In the report, the Lead Inspector wrote many very positive comments about what it is like to attend Bishop Fox’s School including ‘this is a school where excellence is aspired to and celebrated’, ‘warm relationships’ between students and staff create a harmonious atmosphere’, and ‘there is a calm and focused atmosphere in lessons and around the school site’. The report states that there are many areas where the school performs well, including ‘a very strong culture of safeguarding’.

Bishop Fox’s School is a place for students to make new friends and to enjoy many shared experiences together. We embrace the notion that young people should enjoy and achieve in their time at school. Whilst examination results are critical to children’s future lives, so is a safe and happy environment within which they can enjoy the opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom that nurtures them to become independent learners and responsible adults.

Our academic results have seen a tremendous improvement in recent years and our positive progress places us as one of the top performing secondary schools in Somerset and within the top 20% of schools nationally. It is our responsibility to enable our students to have every opportunity to achieve their full potential and be at the forefront in shaping the world of tomorrow.

We welcome into our school community the parents/guardians of students who want to learn, experience and grow into informed, high achieving, well-rounded and delightful young people. A strong partnership between parents/guardians and the school is vital in enabling children to achieve success.
