Taunton Schools Cross Country

24 of our students took part in the Taunton Schools cross country held at Kings School, running against students from other schools on an undulating and muddy course. The wind was bitterly cold, but our students did not disappointment.

The first race was the Year 7 race where they had to run 1500m, all the students did very well and finished with real determination but the star of the show was Gabriel Billington – where he finished 3rd. Cassey Allaway was the first Year 7 girl to finish, in 6th position.

The year 8s and 9s ran together where they had to run 2600m. The Ponter brothers stole the show where one finished right behind the other in a sprint finish. Sam was 2nd and Joe was 3rd. Potentially the next Brownlee brothers?! Special mention to Weronika Bak, the only girl in Year 9 to put her name down to run- she was fantastic!

In the Year 10/11 race we had Jonah Billington who started strong, Liam Phillips and Ben Sibley. They ran 4.5km, just under 3 miles. With Jonah being in Year 10, he ran a super race – he finished 14th overall. The unexpected performance of the day was Liam Phillips – he finished 3rd and Ben Sibley finished in the top 10.
