Year 7 students attended a residential as part of their induction programme of starting school at. In all over 180 students attended the residential at Adventure Okehampton. The students attended the residential with their tutor group and tutor enabling the students to develop a strong bond with their tutor and tutor group. Students took part in a wide range of outdoor activities such as Gorge Scrambling, Archery, Grass sledging, Mountain biking, High ropes and crate stacking and of course the night walk on Dartmoor.
Steve Summerill, Deputy head at the school and trip organiser said ‘ the residential is an important part of the induction process at the school, we have students from over 25 different primary schools joining us, I was working with one group made up of 10 students who all came from different primary schools, the opportunity to bond in a challenging environment enables students to thrive at our school as they this experience enables our students to make friendships that could last a life time’.
